How It Works

Step 1: Create and Verify the Candidate Account

The person who will complete the training creates an account in their legal name, selects the desired programs, completes the security check, and verifies the email address. Email verification confirms ownership of the inbox; it does not unlock training.

Step 2: NCTC Reviews the Request

NCTC reviews the verified account and each requested program separately. The candidate can sign in to see the request status, but course content stays locked until NCTC approves it.

Step 3: Payment or Course Credit

After approval, complete any required payment or apply an available course credit. Your employer, sponsor, or an NCTC promotion may cover the cost, but the enrollment and any credential issued remain in the individual candidate's name.

Step 4: Complete the Required Training

Approved candidates work through every lesson, field procedure, scenario, and guided exercise. The mobile-friendly training works on phones, tablets, and computers. Each module ends with a graded knowledge check that must be answered correctly before progress is recorded. Candidates may leave and return without losing work, but the final assessment remains locked until every requirement is complete.

Step 5: Take the Timed Final Assessment

The final draws a new randomized question set and shuffles answer choices. The system retains the candidate's questions, answers, timing, and score. A failed attempt locks the exam until NCTC reviews and approves a retake request.

Step 6: Manual Record and Credential Review

A passing score does not issue a credential automatically. NCTC reviews the candidate, completed modules, assessment history, and any required practical submission before issuing the 8-digit verification number and certificate in the personal dashboard.

Step 7: Return, Reference, and Manage the Work

Certification is not the end of the relationship. NCTC-credentialed technicians can return to review completed course material, manage credentials and certificates, and order inspection tags, record documents, service binders, and other field resources. NCTC is also developing web-based paperwork and submission tools for select corporate programs, with access introduced as each workflow becomes ready.

Self-Paced Learning

Self-paced learning allows individuals to move through course material independently, reviewing lessons, videos, and reference documents on their own schedule. This flexible approach supports repetition, accountability, and study at a comfortable rhythm.

Structured Modules

Structured modules present information in an organized, progressive format. Each module builds on the last, using clear text and visuals to support consistent understanding and measurable progress.

Knowledge Assessments

Module mastery checks and controlled final assessments require learners to recall, analyze, and apply the procedures they have studied. Randomized questions, required module completion, and recorded results provide measurable verification.
