National Certification & Training Council

Practical certification and training for the people who inspect, maintain, and support transportation operations, commercial fleets, and facilities.

Our Mission

The National Certification and Training Council develops modern, standards-based training and certification for the technicians, inspectors, and safety professionals who support transportation operations, commercial fleets, and facilities.

Our courses are built from real field experience — not theory — giving individuals and organizations the tools to train quickly, certify efficiently, and work confidently.

We focus on making certification practical and relevant — aligned with recognized safety codes, real-world job skills, and testing that verifies genuine understanding.

By working with industry specialists and field technicians, we create concise, verifiable programs that prepare professionals for the inspection, maintenance, and compliance work required across transportation, fleet, and facility operations.

How it works

Actual candidate dashboard screen
  1. Create & Verify Your Account — Register in the candidate’s legal name, select the requested programs, and verify the email address.
  2. Receive NCTC Approval — NCTC reviews the account and each requested program. Any required payment or available course credit is completed before training unlocks.
  3. Complete Training & Assessments — Finish the required modules, mastery checks, final assessment, and any program-specific practical submission.
  4. Credential Review & Issuance — NCTC reviews the completed record and, when all requirements are satisfied, issues the credential to the candidate’s dashboard.

Self-Paced Learning

Self-paced learning allows individuals to move through course material independently, reviewing lessons, videos, and reference documents on their own schedule. This flexible approach supports repetition, accountability, and study at a comfortable rhythm.

Structured Modules

Structured modules present information in an organized, progressive format. Each module builds on the last, using clear text and visuals to support consistent understanding and measurable progress.

Knowledge Assessments

Module mastery checks and controlled final assessments require learners to recall, analyze, and apply the procedures they have studied. Randomized questions, required module completion, and recorded results provide measurable verification.

Beyond the final assessment

Your NCTC account remains a working professional resource

Certification is not a one-time transaction. An NCTC-credentialed technician can return to the training system as part of the ongoing work—reviewing course material, checking credentials, maintaining records, and obtaining the documents and field materials needed for service.

01

Return to the training

Revisit completed course material, procedures, diagrams, and reference information whenever a field question needs a reliable starting point.

02

Manage your credentials

Use the personal dashboard to review progress, assessment history, issued credentials, and downloadable certificates.

03

Order paperwork and supplies

Request inspection tags, record documents, service binders, identification materials, and other resources that support consistent field work.

04

Prepare for digital workflows

NCTC is developing web-based paperwork and submission tools for select corporate programs, with access introduced as each workflow becomes ready.
