Emergency Lighting and Exit Sign Inspection Certification
This focused program prepares candidates to inspect emergency lighting and illuminated exit signs, perform approved functional checks, document monthly and annual activity, identify deficiencies, and verify corrective action.
Program structure
- Emergency lighting and exit-sign fundamentals
- Visual and functional inspection
- Inspection records and device tags
- Deficiencies, corrective action, and final review
Final assessment
The final exam draws 12 randomized questions from the approved bank, shuffles answer order, allows 20 minutes, and requires 80% to pass. Up to three attempts are available unless NCTC authorizes another.
References and limits
The program uses original NCTC instruction developed around OSHA 29 CFR 1910.36 and 1910.37, current adopted life-safety requirements, manufacturer instructions, and local requirements. It is not a state license or government accreditation.
Credential workflow
Passing the exam places the result into manual NCTC review. The credential is issued only after owner approval and belongs to the individual named on it.
